I was awarded Victoria State Winner of the Nursery and Garden Industry Australia Heather Rumsey Young Leader Award at the Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria 110th Gala Dinner.

I was awarded Victoria State Winner of the Nursery and Garden Industry Australia Heather Rumsey Young Leader Award at the Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria 110th Gala Dinner.

I hope everyone enjoyed the festive season and were lucky enough to enjoy a well deserved break.

This year is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year for Garden Soirée after setting up the foundations in 2014.

On reflection of 2014, I worked on exciting projects and had great achievements both personally and professionally.

I established Garden Soirée to provide me with a channel to make a difference and help people reconnect to the land and discover the importance of plants and trees in our lives. My objective is to get people involved in their gardens and local community by increasing their understanding of gardening principles and implementing sustainable changes.

The past year has seen me work on a variety of projects including:

  • Consultation on residential gardens, helping clients create a safer and more sustainable garden for their families enjoyment.
  • Creating urban gardens for apartment balconies.
  • Establishing a Residents Community Garden for an apartment complex.
  • Consulting for the property managers of a property listed with Heritage Victoria on the removal, supply and replacement of an infected tree registered with Heritage Victoria.

In 2014, I commenced the planning and development of my next step projects including:

  • Garden Soirée Classes and Workshops
  • Garden Soirée Garden Club
  • Farmers Market
  • Community Garden in Greenvale

I got nominated for the Nursery and Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) Heather Rumsey Young Leader Award 2015, was awarded State Winner, Victoria 2015. I have qualified as one the three National Finalists for the national award to be announced this coming March.

Recognition for my projects has appeared in an editorial featured online and in the local paper. (www.heraldsun.com.au)

In 2015 I look forward to working with more individuals, groups, businesses and organisations, helping them to understand their garden and develop an appreciation for our environment through my classes, consultation and ongoing projects.
